RANCH BEGINNINGS

5th Generation Cattle Ranch - Our ancestors traveled west with Pioneers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1865 they started to produce grass-fed beef, milk, and cheese; and every other week they would travel by wagon to the neighboring towns and mining camps to deliver their goods.

LOCATION OF THE RANCH

The unique geographic location lends itself to producing gourmet quality beef. Just as Napa Valley has the perfect climate to produce wine, Southern Utah and Northern Arizona are perfectly situated to produce gourmet beef. This area is a high desert plateau that ranges in elevation from 4,200 feet to 6,500 feet. It is far enough south to stay warm enough to grow grass in the winter and far enough north and high enough elevation to stay cool in the summer. Lack of water and low humidity makes for a sterile environment that allows the cattle to live healthy with little to no sickness or parasites to impede growth.

RANCH SIZE

Our ranch encompasses 250,000 acres of land. It takes about 100 acres per animal per year to sustain our herd of about 1,000 head of mother cows. BREED OF COW We raise Red Devon Cattle. Red Devon are known for being docile, efficient, cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, capable of being fat with a calf in the middle of the winter on grass alone and for so many other reasons.

BREED OF COW

We raise Red Devon Cattle. Red Devon are known for being docile, efficient, cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, capable of being fat with a calf in the middle of the winter on grass alone. The Red Devon is known for the high marbling, better tasting, and more tender meat than any other conventional cow.

WATER & FEED

Our ranch has an underground spring in the area that pumps out about 25 gallons of pure, clean, fresh water each minute. 100% Grass-Fed & 100% Grass-Finished, our cattle are never fed anything other than grass. It’s that simple. Purchasing Bar 10 Beef gives you the opportunity to taste what beef tasted like in the 1800’s. We think it’s as good as it gets, and hope you do too!

CLEAN

Our cattle are never given added hormones, growth-promoting additives, or antibiotics. We take it a step further by detoxing our cattle with Redmond’s Bentonite Clay. Bentonite Clay is a toxin binder. We also spread Redmond’s Sea Salt on our fields for added vitamins and minerals for both the cattle and the soil (bugs and stuff).

SOIL HEALTH

Our grass is never sprayed with herbicides, insecticides or pesticides of any kind. In fact, we spread cane molasses and raw milk to increase the soil’s fertility and vibrance. Soil is full of life and it is our job to help facilitate those microscopic relationships through proper stewardship. We rotationally graze our cattle which mimics herd animals of the ancient past. This gives rest to the land and also ensures that each section of land is never overgrazed and uprooted. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SOIL!
